Oh, come on - I nearly fell off my chair when I first fired up VS2005 to 
find full XHTML support as well as validation and accessibility checking 
finally in a MS product - the big problem though is that many .Net 
developers still don't look at the underlying html, just as long as it 
works.

That's why I went down the route of writing my own some time ago to ensure 
it produced valid XHTML, and now with .Net 2.0 it is sooo much easier.


Personally I would try to push to extend your own version, giving you a 
good excuse to upgrade the bits you don't like.
