Darrel knows his stuff. ;) I'll add a few and return the favor: - Appropriate filenames: Google trusts good filenames - Linked to: The more pages that link to your page, the better - Link names: what you put between your anchor tags is important - No redirect: Google hates them... They sometimes work but highly discouraged especially from the root of your site. Google might just skip the rest. - No flash/shockwave: Don't expect anything built with Flash/Director to end up on Google. It is getting harder and harder to cheat with the google bot. For example, black texts on a black background are ignored (old way to hide content texts you wanted bots to read but not the user). And once again, I guess this is part of the accessibility stuff, no dynamic menus/javascript links. a. André Milton www.mlore.com -----Original Message----- On Behalf Of Austin, Darrel If you're talking Google, the keys are: - semantic/well-structured markup - appropriate TITLE, H1, H2, etc. tags - key content as close to the top of the source code as you can - good, appropriate, well-written, content - other people that deem your content, good, well-written and appropriate enough to link to you. - accessible design (Look at the recent discussion on accessibility. Making your site more accessible also makes it more accessible to google-bot.) And, yes, Google puts little-to-no weight on traditional meta keywords/descriptions. That doesn't mean you shouldn't use them, but don't count on them for SE rank.
