Information required for virtual folders

Hi All ,

                     I need  advice on one of the issues which is creating a lot of confusion. I have a requirement in which user want capacity to access and view documents across folders e.g. If predefine taxonomy stores document  for every cusomer some users would like to have a view defined on date. They would not like to run a search for every such request.  What could be possible solutions with mature EDMS vendors?
