"Faceted" navigation is a more generalized form of what you are describing.
Its worth noting that a small taxonomy of 5,000 nodes converted to a
"faceted" taxonomy could yield 100,000,000 nodes - essentially providing
much finer resolution for users looking to browse and discover the
information in the repository. A good example can be found at Forrester
research (just search and browse at www.forrester.com )

Hi All ,

                     I need  advice on one of the issues which is creating a
lot of confusion. I have a requirement in which user want capacity to access
and view documents across folders e.g. If predefine taxonomy stores document
for every cusomer some users would like to have a view defined on date. They
would not like to run a search for every such request.  What could be
possible solutions with mature EDMS vendors?
