If I were to offer a solution, I guess it'd be to consult with clients on
the full spectrum of CMS solutions in general conceptual terms...not
product-specific technical terms. Get the client excited about what
technology can do, but don't influence (i.e., limit) early brainstorming by
tossing in specific implementations of product features. 

Software is malleable. I don't think enough companies understand that. They
tend to accept whatever vendors tell them when they start hitting
limitations of the product.

All IMHO, of course...again, I'm no expert...just someone that has sit on
the sidelines of these types of things for a while. I've also been the
'victim' before too. Live and learn. ;o)
