hi,

you just need to simply create this properties file at the root of  
your user home
the mine for example have just these 2 lines and 3 commented (for an  
alternate tomcat):

catalina.home.dir=/Applications/jakarta-tomcat-5.0.28
catalina.version.major=5

#version 5.5
#catalina.home.dir=/Applications/apache-tomcat-5.5.12
#catalina.version.major=5.5
