I don't think there are more people working directly on Plone than on 
OGo. It has a bigger user community which is only natural given that a 
lot more people require a website than a full blown groupware server.

Lot of functionality => lot of enhancement requests. Most usual thing 
on earth. If Plone would have the same amount of user-level 
functionality, it will see as many enh requests.

I think it really comes down to that, without knowing anything about 
how OGo works you recommend radical changes.
OGo WebUI is very mature (about three to seven times as old as Plone I 
guess) and quite good in what it does.

OK, this basically comes down to provided functionality. Simplicity can 
also be marked as "powerful".

I'm also amazed how fast motorbikes can go, but I wouldn't use one to 
implement OGo. See?

Hu?
Take a look in the subject, it says "Dumping UI?".
Then you initially ask "when it comes to the WebUI, has anyone ever 
thought of just dumping it and tying it into Plone".

Integration is something different ..., especially for the use cases. 
As mentioned before for Plone I'm mostly interested in plugins which 
can be used to build a customer relationship site, less a frontend to 
OGo.

All that very much reminds of Java folks who want to go EJB and JSP, or 
Mono folks who want to go ASP.NET, or fans of XSLT who definitely need 
to use that for OGo. Just because something is hip in the moment it is 
recommended out of the blue to drop a tested and proven part of the 
system.

What we need most on the WebUI front is a very good web designer so 
that the OGo UI looks as eye-candy as Plone (actually SKYRiX 5 has some 
pretty good themes, but this is not part of OGo).

If you can contribute some Plone components or even a complete UI which 
accesses OGo, please do so! You would be very welcome.
