I'm not sure whether it uses deltas to archive BLOBs, but the DB backend doesn't do that either and I don't consider that a problem (storage capacity isn't a problem for years now with about a GB per $). In the case of OOo files you would even have the option (which might make sense) to decompress the files prior archiving them in the storage. This may or may not make sense.
