"clip" puts the currently viewed object in a transient favorite list 
(if you are using the default theme, a box showing the clipped items 
will appear on the left side). The list is a FIFO list with a

So this is use-case #1, as transient bookmarks.

Further, use case #2, you can create links to clipped objects in the 
project. Eg:
a) open an appointment viewer
b) press "clip" (the appointment will appear in the clipboard on the 
left)
c) navigate to a (DB) project
d) select the documents tab
e) press "new link"
f) select the appointment in the popup and give the link a name
g) press save
=> this will create a symbolic link from the project to the appointment.

You can do this with any object.

I don't know what "Link" you are referring to. If you want to give 
other people access to the project, you need to add them in the 
project's ACL (edit project attributes).
