OK, small update, I tried to install it on Windows XP. Installation 
went just fine, but after finish I'm unable to login as 'admin'. Seems 
to be the classical "if you are lucky everything is great, otherwise 
you are hosed".
As usual on Windows chances are low to hope to find issues in 
reasonable time (no strace, no proper logs, no process inspection, 
...).

Besides I'm not sure why I should install vTiger. So far SugarCRM seems 
to be state of the art and the "reference" in OpenSource CRM. And this 
provides an online demo where everything can be tried and checked - and 
we all have a common reference on what we talk about and what the 
interested user sees.
To me vTiger seems like some Indish company grabbed the source of 
someone else, added a simple Outlook sync as a bonus and now tries to 
compete. May or may not work out, I would be surprised if it does.


My point was: I looked at SugarCRM and saw little which isn't already 
available in OGo (IMHO in a better way). SugarCRM seems to be popular 
for whatever reason (my guess: because people are interested in CRM and 
there was nothing else in OpenSource which claimed to provide that).
So it might make sense to reproduce SugarCRM functionality in OGo - and 
unless I'm missing something really big this would be just a reordering 
of the templates, maybe 2-5 days of work. Some more work for the 
graphical reports.

Note: I'm _not_ at all sure that I'm right here - all this is based on 
impression from looking 3-5 minutes on the online demo. This is why I 
asked for feedback ;-)


To answer individual responses (notice the smileys ;-):

Dustin: it would be cool if you could provide some feedback. I think 
you got my point ;-)

Michael: SugarCRM is not a groupware server. Comparisons between them 
are very interesting too and considered topic here. But this wasn't my 
point in this thread ;-) Neither are licensing/OpenSource issues - its 
just a popular project which seems to be covered by OGo too.

Adam: pretty idealistic ;-) People seem to like SugarCRM for whatever 
reason, see above.

Chris: more feedback please ;-) Precise info is preferred over generic 
claims ;-)
