this has been an interesting and relevant discussion. there seems to be 
no little interest in crm.

i've tried the free sugarcrm a while back and it felt like an obvious 
attempt to generate 'real' clientele.
to my mind this is a dealbreaker. too bad that this is the 'best' crm 
package open source can offer.

if ogo can fairly easily replicate the important features, ( as seems to 
be the case)
and label it a crm module, extension, plugin, whatever... this would  be 
a good thing for
ogo and open source :)

at the very least it would show more people how a company can fully embrace
the open source business model without playing games and saying
'upgrade for the good stuff'. optimally, it would make ogo's flexibility 
that much
more apparent to those considering ogo as a groupware solution.

here's an idea...  i sadly cannot participate due to time constraints, 
but maybe have an
ogo crm fest, along the lines of the noodle effort.

document the time and man hours required to 'port' ogo standard to 
ogo-crm.  show how
good code can be written quickly, maybe a sponser or two can be found.  
put thoughts and
difficulties faced by the team on a blog. nothing formal mind you, just 
something to indicate
loosely the speed and beauty of the open source development model. i 
believe this
could be an excellent marketing tool.
