No!! this is related to 2 year old code that has not been update and has a memory leak, a database that is not packed at least every few weeks and a setup that has zero speed enhancements. While much of this is due to my lack of attention, you seem to forget that zope hosts some very major sites in the US and EU on rather generic hardware. Speed issue at this time are very simply related to the installation and its lack of maintenance nothing more.
