Ok I took the PM off to play with this issue to get it sorted once and for 
all. After looking at the code in svn I see the problem. Its not a trivial 
system nor is the structure self evident. There seem to be far too many 
templates that over ride and over ride base values, hence the time required 
to walk and process the code base. 

So I copied the structure and loaded some demo data into latest release of 
plone and intentionally focused on usability and code management issues.Plone 
2.1 goes gold later this week.

No UI elements added at all. This is intentional as there are two accounts 
available for testing, test admin and test user. Coordinates will be sent to 
the appropriate people for review off list. The intend is to focus on 
usability and content production/management not design at this stage. 

The purpose here is not to discuss rather to demonstrate content production. 
In short, content can be created in a miriad of ways including integration of 
local editors (thats what the pencil is for in the admin access area but you 
need to install an app and windows/linux/mac are supported) Content can be 
uploaded via ftp, webdav and or reworked via the web interface if you prefer 
via epoz (see preferences in your accounts to activate it) 

On the feature side there is now complete revision management (ie history), 
user level shared access, as well as user and group admin if you are the 
admin. Of course the integrated email notification system remains in place 
(not active) at this time. However content production and maintenance are 
more important then features. 

Both the workflow and stagging are default as supplied as they come with some 
significant changes. Should meet the requirements,

Finally its sitting on my laptop, plane zope no apache, no caching and no RAM 
cache and no db optimizations. Loads in less the 2 sec's at this end which is 
the same as slashdot, linuxtoday or opengroupware.org YMMV. However wrt to 
speed I have no concerns as I know what this can do as its proven itself 
commercially.

The only caveat I offer is that I will be unavailable from July16 to approx 20 
Aug so if you need a wiki solution then feel free. Wrt to a wiki based system 
for docs.opengroupware.org well that would be ...unproductive..:) The current 
thinking on this to move the data into a structure similar to 
http://plone.org/documentation in late Aug or Sept. Data migration can be 
done by one person but maintenance will require a crew.
