Full text indexing - integrating more DMS features into OGo

I was wondering what the thoughts would be towards adding indexing of
files. I have noticed (and used) Knowledge Tree DMS, and noticed that
they have packaged separately their file indexing package for indexing
html, doc, xls, pdf, txt, etc. The ability to search all of the files in
all of the projects for a keyword would be fascinating. Since the file
indexer from Knowledge Tree is released under the GPL, it could be
easily reused. The immediate downsides that I see are that it's written
in Java (thusly requiring a JRE), and it's designed to interface with
mysql instead of postgres, though there is work being done on a postgres
option.
