The GroupDAV part (I believe) only pertains to the address book in Thunderbird. The connector relies on Sunbird/Lightning to do the calendaring - and they require CalDAV (AFAIK they actively support *ONLY* CalDAV at this point). My understanding is that the connector only does address book sync and some Sunbird/Lightning<->Addressbook glue. On the other hand, last time I tried the connector it didn't work with OGo anyway. I haven't looked at it any further but I think it is actually more of a CardDAV connector. I'll know more shortly as I'm about to test that.
