right, yes, exactly, - the ASF is non-profit, whereas the Convention is 
(hopefully not).

and even though this is a fundraising item (after all the more important 
issues like educational, everybody being able to get together once a year, 
technologicaly creating new stuff, beer,
(just kidding on that one, though some may disagree)

my co. is not a non profit like the ASF, nor is Verslag, the German co. 
producing ApacheCon EU (yeah, informational but also slipped in a 'shameless 
plug'there...) as well as probably all the future co.'s that will produce 
ApacheCon in the future.

as far as my opinion on that post, hmmm, yeah, it's a training co. to me 
guys,
you all need to decide on what is gonna be cool to post cause of your 
demographic you have the potential to be literally inundated with 
'commercial' announcements, now that is not necessarily bad, as we all want 
continued education, so how about setting up a calendaras part of the site 
to link to ? Ken Coar set one up for (all the OS shows we could identify) 
annually, I think you can link to it from his blog, if you guys do so then 
list members can freely see what's going on.

The other option is to restrict the announcements to non-profit based shows 
only (for instance as I s=write this I am finalizing booking SCALE, the 
Southern California Linux Users Group Conference) right now, and would 
assume that would be appropriate to announce the local & date here, cause 
even though I am working with them, it's their show (like the ASF & I were.)

So 'commercially backed' or "brand X" co. trainings, etc., might be listed 
in a different place? I think it is up to how you guys feel in a possible 
"goup concious"

One of the Meeting Planner lists I am on has a very very strict no marketing 
whatsoever or you will be kicked off policy, it does keeep things rather 
clean & educational, but it isn't better than being able to market your co. 
or a commercial site, just a bit different. We end up hellping each other & 
a lot of mentoring oportunities are there... etc.

oh, & thanks for being such a gentleman and assuring me no harm was 
intended,, really there was never any offence taken, (most of my enemies & 
critics are much more acerbic, loud and would simply laible me with 
disregard, they do tend to lack finese...)
