Hi Jonny, While I understand your idea, I think we should (in that case) prioritise the existing in Tiki. And we have such option (see the screenshot). Another thing I like is that it is not adding extra code/syntax (module) on the page and it is dogfooding process, ;-) Without any knowledge any editor can use the page description for the metatag "description".
