Hi Bernard,
As Jonny mentioned, the best (and only?) explanation is in the "Testing
procedure" FADE plugin in page https://dev.tiki.org/Translations-Revamp
I need to extract what has actually been done from what we'd like to do in
the future in another page.
I also need a nice real-life example :-(
Have you actually found any place in Tiki where the proper french
translation of "Rotate" is "Alterner" ??? I could not :-( I only found
places where "Rotation" would be appropriate
(lib/wiki-plugins/wikiplugin_icon.php
and lib/wiki-plugins/wikiplugin_sharethis.php)
and an obsolete file dating from image galleries (
templates/tiki-browse_gallery.tpl) (also "Rotation")
You don't need to find and correct all occurrences of "Rotate" : it's only
important that you find all the ones which need a new, different
translation.
I'm afraid this is a bad example because grepping the source code for
Rotate gives me no file where "Alterner" would be appropriate, but if it
was a good one, the strategy would be to go change the "wrong" ones in the
tpls or php files from tra('Rotate') to tra('Rotate_C(orientation)'). If
you want to do a higher quality work, also change to tra('Rotate_C(logs)')
where appropriate.
Then I'd run:
php console.php translation:englishupdate --scm=git
php console.php translation:getstrings
php console.php c:c
Then I'd edit lang/fr/language.php and translate the new
"Rotate_C(orientation)" entry like this:
"Rotate_C(orientation)" => "Rotation",
or
"Rotate_C(orientation)" => "Orienter",
Cheers,
J-M
