Hello Bernard and other future Manticore users,

So there are three parts to this:

1- Having a properly running Manticore
2- Using Manticore with Tiki
3- How to compare Manticore to the other options?

My executive summary is
1- Install using instructions from Manticore doc/community
2- Once Manticore works, try a full rebuild (it should work), and keep an eye on it to see to detect if it fails a few hours after (my two test sites do).


1- Having a properly running Manticore

This is not the expertise of the Tiki community, so it's best to refer to the Manticore community.

We did copy a bit of info here: https://wikisuite.org/Manticore-Search but
1- This is the Manticore installer for WikiSuite and not a generic installer for Virtualmin (one day maybe we'll have a generic installer, but not soon)
2- The canonical version should always be the Manticore docs.

I recommend to not install the nightly builds. We did it at the beginning of the process to get the latest code, and to not report bugs for already fixed things.


2- Using Manticore with Tiki

branch 25x contains all the Manticore-related code from trunk:

I want to dogfood Manticore for doc.tiki.org and dev.tiki.org ASAP on Tiki 25x.

We are now able to rebuild the index even for complex sites. And the rebuild works fine for the pre-dgofood of doc and dev:

However, later Manticore crashes and we don't yet know why. I suspect the incremental index.

There are some commits about fixing crashes in Manticore which will soon be in a stable version:

I am hoping our bug is solved there.
