I don't think it's a great idea to introduce an additional package. All
time manipulation packages, including moment.js and the other alternatives
you mentioned, offer the functionality you're looking for. The reason for
considering that library seems to be that moment.js is not recommended for
new projects by its authors. However, this doesn't apply here since we are
not introducing it—it's already in use. In the unlikely event we decide to
replace moment.js in the future, any replacement will have the features we
currently need.

In summary, I advise using moment.js features.
