You are absolutely right! The doc
http://localhost:8080/wyona-cms/docs/xdocs/tutorial.html
is not convenient for from-the-scratch-beginners.
So far the denotation 'tutorial' is not justified - the tutorial.xml
file should be renamed. In fact, this document should be located at the
Documentation page, item '3.Integrator's Guide: 1.Creating a new Publication'.
That means the knowledge of an 'Integrator' is assumed which includes
a certain knowledge of cocoon, xml, and xsl.
However, I have to admit this is not very helpful for beginners.

Also from my point of view a *quick* guide to 'jump' into wyona is missing.
It should contain the absolutely necessary steps to
- install wyona
- get the example projects running
- create a new pub from a default pub.
This default (name it 'DEFAULT' for example) should be as simple as possible.
Below my comments on your comments ...

Best wishes

(***) yes, this is, however, out of scope of 'Integrators Guide'.
But as already mentioned we need a beginners tutorial ;)

May be the wording 'Rename the ethz/mat subdirectories for *your purpose*'
is not clear enough. If you have an alternate formulation that would
be much appreciated.

Your right. This results from a known problem (look into the mailing list:
http://mail.wyona.org/pipermail/wyonacms-dev/2002-June/000051.html
and subsequent entries) which is - as far as I know - still
not resolved :(

what do you mean?

Unfortunately, from here I dont know what you are referring to.
Do you mean the item '8. Revision Controller' at the main documentation page?
