Xaraya Bug Hunting Festival / Contest

Xaraya development is built on having fun, community gatherings, learning,
and just a little competition from our peers. In this spirit we have decided
to run a little festival of bug and feature request removal.

Contest:

Starting Monday morning 9/22/03 at GMT 0001, the Xaraya Bug Tracker will be
open for all to submit bugs and feature requests for credit. We appreciate
all the ones that have been submitted in the past, and if you haven't in the
past, here is good incentive. We will be rewarding the person that submits
the most (valid, non-duplicated bugs) bug reports and feature requests a
prize of a Xaraya T-shirt and a $25.00 gift certificate.

The credits accrue during the week until Friday night at GMT 23:59. At that
time the bug-busting begins. From Saturday morning GMT 0001 to Sunday night
GMT 23:59 we will be crediting the completion of bugs and feature requests.
There will be three tiers of prizes awarded:

    * First Place - Xaraya Bug-Buster T-Shirt and a $100 gift certificate
    * Second Place - Xaraya Bug-Buster T-Shirt and a $50 gif certificate
    * Third Place - Xaraya Bug-Buster T-Shirt and a $25 gift certificate

* Gift certificates will be for either ThinkGeek or Amazon.com.

Rules:

Anyone is welcome to participate to either of the contests. For those that
do not have commit access to the repositories patches / uploaded files /
Specific instructions will be credited.

There will be a weight system to the bugs and feature request for both
contests:

    * 4 Points Awarded for Core files (includes directory / parent
directory).
    * 3 Points Awarded for "Core Distribution" files including modules and
themes.
    * 2 Points Awarded for "Base Distribution" files including modules and
themes.
    * 1 Point Awarded for "Full Distribution" files including modules and
themes.

For the bug / feature request submissions, credit will only be given for
bugs which are not duplicates. The bugs also must be valid, and the feature
request must also be within the scope of the project (Xaraya mowing my grass
is not within the scope, although a feature request that we could all use).
With a dispute, the Xaraya Project Management Committee will be the final
say on the validity of the credit.

The Xaraya Project Management Committee will be the judge as to the
completion of the bug. Credit will be given to the person that fixes the
bug, not the person that commits the change into the repository. Clear and
concise fixes need to be communicated or shown for credit. Once the PMC
marks the bug closed credit will be given.

All winners will be announced later in the week after the contest closes to
give time to examine any disputes. Please remember, this contest is intended
to be fun and productive. The contributions are from personal donations from
within the team, and are not sponsored by any entity or organization.
Depending on the success of this event, more may happen in the future.
