[Bug 2347] 'su' functionality

This code has been completed and implemented in my own branch but i hadn't
realized it was a FR here. I call it 'proxy login'.

The code has been tested and improved upon since being implemented in this
branch. I don't ahve the time to tease out the code from all the other features
in my own branch but am happy if someone else wants to look at it and
implement.
If anyone wants it or wants to discuss its implemenation I'd be happy to do so.
