One of my favorites. His book "metamagical themes" is somewhat more 
diverse on subjects. Also couple of hundred pages.

I once attended a lecture of him, and he literally rambled about 4 
minutes about a 450 pt green space set in Times Roman versus a 450pt 
green space set in Courier. (the rest of the lecture was also fun)
