(Chris forgot to crosspost this here, I just noticed the oversight...
our apologies)

Many projects develop naming schemes for various resources such as
servers (which Xaraya has done), and some assign names to their major
releases, such as Ubuntu Linux. Xaraya is now adopting a naming scheme
for repository branches.

As before, branch names will begin with com.xaraya.[database name] in
lowercase. Branch name segments are in English, and separated with dot
(.). When desired, words in segment names may be separated by underscore
(_), but not hyphen (-).

The pool of names will be Caribbean Islands. Major core branches will be
given a recognizable name from this pool -
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_islands_in_the_Caribbean

Modules, themes and languages, to denote compatibility with a particular
core, will adopt the same name as a suffix.

Scenarios will have their name appended.

Users who create their own branches to work on will append their nickname.

Suffixes are to be applied in the order given above. Examples:

- Core: com.xaraya.core.bahama

- Core scenario: com.xaraya.core.bahama.ui_scrub

- Core user branch: com.xaraya.core.bahama.johnsmith

- Core scenario user branch: com.xaraya.core.bahama.uiscrub.johnsmith

- Module: com.xaraya.modules.articles.bahama

- Theme: com.xaraya.themes.buddha.bahama

- Language: com.xaraya.languages.de.bahama

Names will be chosen and announced by each core's team lead. Going
forward, the terms "1x" and "2x" should be replaced with the chosen
island names in all discussions and correspondence.

To reduce development disruption, the 1x core and its associated
module/theme/language branches will not be renamed in the repository,
but still should be referred to by island name whenever possible.
