How much detail do you need? So far I've said that I didn't think dozens of
icons spread around the system was a good way to go, and that a sprite-based
solution (as used by many high-volume sites, Google, TinyMCE 2 etc) would be a
better way to go.

So far the response has been negative, so is there really any point in me
pursuing the idea any further?
