904 Install/Initialization prob

Hi,

I'm trying to install the xaraya904 beta, but can't get past the 'collect
database' stage of the install. I submit my db details, but just get a
'cannot find server' after a 60s or so wait. All chmod's are fine, - and
i'm running the following. I've also tried dropping all tables and trying
again, without joy..

Apache 1.3.26
PHP 4.2.2
FreeBSD 4.2
MySQL 3.23.56

Has anyone else experienced this?
