Text editing bug with IE8: Text selection impossible

There seems to be a significant problem with text editing in IE8:

When editing long text objects, selecting stuff from the bottom of the
text is nearly impossible: The textarea jumps up and down wildly while 
I'm trying to mark the selection.

This happens with with IE8 (but not with IE7 or Firefox), without
XStandard.

I'm running into this problem with recent ZMS builds (e.g. ZMS 2.11.1-70).
An older version (ZMS 2.11.0-16) works fine.

To reproduce, go IE8 without XStandard installed. Create a text object
and paste some 50 lines of text in it. Go to the bottom of the text, and
try to select e.g. the last sentence.

Remarkably, the problem vanishes when setting IE8 into 'compabitility
mode'.


I noticed that the problem vanishes when the
storeCaret function is disabled.

Upon further investigation, I come to the conclusion that this is in
fact a bug in IE8. Appearently various other projects ran into related
textarea issues as well, e.g. phpBB:

Their fix was to set IE8 into compatibility mode:

    <meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=EmulateIE7" />

Would it make sense to put IE8 into compatibility mode for the ZMS
management interface as well?
