hi folks,

well, zms is nice and fast to learn (at least the management interface, building templates is not so), but i really really would like to have a cleaner interface :-)
it shouldnt consist of pure js and ajax, moreover everything should work without that, and if js is available build it on top of the html code
it also would be cool to make the whole zms interface themable, so one could replace the whole interface with another one
but as niels wrote, that "seems a very high target"
the whole interface would have to be written in divs and classes without that table stuff and styled entirely via css

i'd also appreciate, if a lot functions wouldn't return html code or doing strange response redirects
the new 2.12. api goes in that directing

i don't like joomla either, but i had to work with it a few months ago and there was one thing i would like to have -> the modules
nowadays we are building a site via nesting dtml-methods ... i'd more like a basic template where i'm able to define areas which i can fill from the zms interface.
i did this partially a few months ago through extending the teasers with a 'position' select-field ala top,right,bottom,left and then building teaserelements ala navigation, slideshow etc...

another thing i'm thinking of is a more flexible template system ... e.g imagine a special object with some code inside ... then i would like to have some kind of mechanism to overwrite that code, through changing my Theme/Template via zms interface, without changing the source code of the special object ... and that not only for special objects
(ok, thats another thing i saw in joomla)

other things i'm interested in:
 - the portal system ... i have no experience with that
 - the whole zms with zope page templates ... i don't like that dtml stuff
 - zope authentication via session  ... i prefer http auth, but daily routine with clients, boss etc.. makes this a recurring annoying task
 - better wysiwyg editors ... i managed to get tinymce basically running a few months ago

and a demo-login to the "new & fresh" would be really nice :-)
