Have you got a gcc C compiler installed?

The following commands should both work.

gcc -c /usr/local/lib/gcc/x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu/3.4.6/units/crtc.c
gpc -c /usr/local/lib/gcc/x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu/3.4.6/units/crtc.c
