I think ( and hope ) that next year contest will see a higher treshold that prevents robots from fighting on the knees. So my controller will not be used in the next contest, and will never fight if it is not accepted today.

Winning the contest is not the main point ( I suppose my chance to win is very low even with my last controller ). But it is more the question of working on a controller for nothing since it will never fight

When I tried to upload my code on friday evening it was already too late and I couldn't do it but I thought it was due to a bug of the server since it had crashed. As I said, I have not worked on it at all on saturday before I read Olivier's mail saying that it was too late to upload.

Yes, but in the case of a freeze of the uploads the rule has to be clear and known of everyone. This year until the final round it was always possible to upload during a round, and a lot of competitors did that ( see the times of uploads in the hall of fame ). I have uploaded a new controller every day in the last 2 weeks and it is obvious that I wanted to upload a new one for the last day also.

Well, I respect your opinion but I do not really understand it : as I said I did not work on my controller on saturday, so my controller seems totally fair to me. What do Olivier and other competitors think?

Sure, Bob inspired all the top 5 robots ( except Astalavista ) and would probably have won easily if he had appeared only in the last day. But keeping a controller for the last day is part of strategy and makes the game exciting. It is also a risky strategy since if it bugs you have no second chance ;-)

When Bob entered the contest it was too late to change the rules and it would have been unfair to him to do so since all Bob's work would have been for nothing

I think that at the moment a standing robot has very few chances against a robot on his knees, and that is probably why the top controllers totally changed in the last 2 weeks to imitate Bob's strategy

I'm really impatient to see your wonderful robot next year !
