ABAP and MaxDB

Hi,

I know that the SAP ABAP development environment is available for both
Windows and Linux.  Is it possible to use this ABAP development
environment connected to a MaxDB database?

If anyone has any experience of doing this on either Linux or Windows
I would be very grateful for advice.
