We are on the way, though not as you might expect. The GUI tools as such won't be developed further, instead we will merge all their functionality into MySQL Workbench. By re-implementing that in WB we can fix design flaws and duplicate functionality which has gotten into the legacy tools over the years, creating so a really great tool for all the tasks a DBA might have today.
