RE: Request for Wiki

There's a wiki-style setup on http://www.masonhq.com, but I don't know
of any comprehensive wiki set up for all things Perl, including MySQL /
mod_perl / HTML::Mason development. It seems like due to the
component-ness of Perl development in the real world, it would be a
tremendously useful resource. I found it extremely difficult and
frustrating to even get up to speed in Perl, much less start figuring
out runtime errors and strangeness on new platforms. 

Because there are so many different CPAN modules and forums, how would
you propose structuring such a thing? This particular problem I had
could have had a root cause anywhere, but I really have no idea what the
source was. It could have been Perl, mod_perl, HTML::Mason, my Perl
module, whatever module Make package I used, apache, DBD::mysql, or
MySQL itself. I could see the benefit in a massive listing of error
messages, but as far as locating this tidbit if I was looking for it, I
don't think a traditional separate structure for each piece of software
would make sense.

In other words, a wiki's a great idea. I'd even be willing to host it on
my personal box. However, I'd still like to hear some ideas on how it
should be structured before embarking on such a project.

There is a RT system set up at CPAN for tracking bugs & feature
requests. http://rt.cpan.org/ and there is also the CPAN forum at
http://www.cpanforum.com/, which is definitely a work in progress but
the idea has potential. To set up a wiki I think you would need to have
a domain or subdomain hosted somewhere (perhaps MySQL would be generous
enough to point perl.mysql.com to a host where the wiki could be set
up). I don't know of any general Perl sites offering a wiki (although it
is an idea I've been kicking around boston.pm).
