I used to have similar problems with installing Oracle8i client on comp with
pentium 4 processor, this triggered some
java related errors.  Sorry i do not remember the exact solution, somebody
posted it over the internet and there is a document on the web about it.
But the idea is the content of the CD is copied to the harddisk and some
files edited. Then the installation
goes through without any problem.

Try copying the error message, paste it in google search this is how i
started and ended in the solution.
