Favorite from the List
"I've been using Automation Designer a lot more lately. Very cool."

And...
When one Beta user suggested the well-known link between an important historic political person's demise and a certain U.S. classified location, that user was immediately reported on our list as "disappeared."
Could we call this "Toads in Black?"

TFS improvement in Toad
Now the Beta version supports Microsoft Team Foundation Server (TFS) multiple working folder mappings.
This enables Toad to use any working folder mapping scheme that can be used by Visual Studio.

- You can now map multiple projects to different working folders in the new Workspace tab of the TFS log-in dialog.

- This eliminates the existing requirement for Toad TFS Workspaces to map only to the TFS root '$\' Source Control folder.

- Project selection is disabled for projects that have not been mapped in the login workspace.
Note: For this beta release this functionality is only available for the TFS2010 Internal (Direct Connection) client.
This was requested in Idea Pond.

You were new once, too, and look at you now
Ctrl +D is the shortcut for Quick Describe.
My favorite option - Let Toad figure it out.
[describewindowCTRL_Dlettoadfigureitout.jpg]
Describe Objects (from Help)
"You can use the Describe Objects feature anywhere in Toad to find objects and display their information in the Describe Objects window. The Describe Objects window displays the same information you would see in the right-hand side of the Schema Browser.
Note: You can describe many objects types through database links. However, the following object types are not supported: policy, policy group, java, refresh group, resource groups/plans, sys privs, and transformations.
To immediately describe the object
1. Select the object and press F4.
Tip: You can also right-click the object and select Describe.
2. If multiple objects have the same name, select the appropriate object from the Multiple Object Found window. (This only applies to the object types in DBA_OBJECTS.)
To specify the object schema and name before describing the object
1. Press CTRL+D to open the Quick Describe window.
2. Enter the object name in the Object Name field. You can complete the rest of the fields to refine your search. These fields are helpful when multiple schemas may contain objects with the same name, or when different object types have the same name (for example, a SYSTEM user and table).
3. Click Describe and Close to open the object in the Describe Objects window and close the Quick Describe window. If you click Describe instead, the Quick Describe window remains open."

Question:

Can TDM be run on a Windows Virtual Machine within VMware virtual infrastructure (i.e. as a guest within VMware ESX hypervisor)?

Answer:

(From Bert) Of course, any Quest software client based database products do so - in fact that about how 80% of our dev and QA people operate on a daily basis - myself included.

I run all our stuff inside an XP VM that I move around machines - and I run it under VMware Workstation as well as VMware ESX/vSphere - in fact I even have run these VM's under Oracle VM solution as well.

From Stephen:
Since I am temporarily working out of the Quest Offices in Cork, I thought it would be a great opportunity to highlight Cork as the Toad Location of the Week.
Editorial note: Since we all know food is more important than work, I took the liberty of moving this from the end to the beginning:
Cork is an excellent area to live ,work in or visit. In recent years the area has gained a merited reputation as the culinary capital of Ireland, and is home to some of Ireland's finest restaurants.

Cork is the Republic of Ireland's second City and home to the Quest EMEA Offices.
An enthusiastic multilingual team, spreads the word about Toad and Quest's other products, from our City Gate offices on the outskirts of the city.
The greater Cork area has:
- a population of around 518,000.
- Cork City anchors Cork Harbor, one of the largest natural harbors in the world.
- Corkonians are known for their distinctive Cork accent (to which the Cary Toad team can attest).
- They are also sports mad, and Corkonians are rabidly proud of the local hurling, Gaelic football, rugby and soccer teams.
Cork is known as 'The Rebel County' and the fiercely independent Corkonians are happy to live up to that reputation.
For the techies among us, George Boole, the father of Symbolic Logic, was Mathematics lecturer at University College Cork (then Queen's College).

Remember to forget about work at home,
