Please post the following position:

State Farm has multiple openings for a Data Specialist/Database Administrator.
Our Corporate office is located in Bloomington, Illinois.  However, management may consider other work locations.

Duties/Responsibilities:



  *   Designs, creates, alters and maintains database solutions, across multiple platforms and computing environments, that meet business needs
  *   Performs industry research for data and database technologies and related software, tools, standards and training
  *   Develops, follows, and/or implements data and database administration procedures, strategies, guidelines, standards, tools, support and training
  *   Performs analysis and problem resolution related to data and databases
  *   Works to improve time to market opportunities and provide flexible solutions by embracing the solution provider mindset
  *   Applies innovation, passion, flexibility, adaptability, and initiative in daily activities in order to contribute to a Systems culture that clearly reflects these ideals
  *   Maintains an understanding of how technology can enhance State Farm's business and helps our business partners


Additional Information:


Horizontal Data Movement (HDM) is a newly formed area providing execution of complex data movement or data migration  to ensure on-time, quality delivery. This includes designing, developing, and implementing the initial population and enabling ongoing synchronization for data movement. Attaining resources that have expertise or a strong aptitude to learn transactional management, will help promote appropriate design and access to improve data quality. This will provide a better customer experience.

Preferred knowledge:
- PostgreSQL master-master replication and conflict resolution
- NoSQL DBMS experience (Riak, Cassandra, MongoDB, CouchDB)
- Caching
- DB2 Experience
- PostgreSQL experience (or multiple other Linux-based RDBMSs)
- Distributed DBMS Experience (sharing, clustering, load balancing, and replication)
- Data Access Design
- Data Access Development
- Data Validation  develop, automate and execution
- SQL experience
- Transactional Data Design
- OO Design
- Experience with execution/ongoing sync process
- Experience working with large data sets
- Performance Tuning experience for High volume applications
