Resource User can't create table with sqlstudio

Hello,

I created a user with "create user abc password xxx resource".
The user can create tables with sql commands in sql studio (e.g. create 
table).
But the menu items for creating tables using the gui are greyed out. 
Modifying tables
is even impossible when the user owns the table, SQL Studio says 
"automation error" then.
