The tds7_get_instance_port dialog, above, shows FreeTDS interrogating the
server for the port associated with the "SL" instance.  There is no NACK
("what are you talking about") kind of reply in the protocol for this kind
of request; the server simply ignores invalid requests.  

If you are sure 192.168.10.50 is the right address, are you sure "SL" is
the right instance name?  When you log in via Microsoft's tool, what does 
	
	select @@servername

return?
