I've found a work-round for this with devuan by adding the following two (somewhat scary) lines to the start of /etc/apt/sources.list deb [allow-insecure=yes] http://deb.devuan.org/merged beowulf main non-free contrib deb-src [allow-insecure=yes] http://deb.devuan.org/merged beowulf main non-free contrib After this I could do a re-fetch and install pyGTK2 This probably gives me a couple more years breathing space although I'll have to start looking for alternatives.
