I'm going to say it's because the Universal is doing 64-bit mode. x86 is 32-bit, no?

I noticed a speed difference between the Universal and the x86 download. The Universal download is running OGR faster.

Tested using the cj-asm-sse2 core.

x86 - 44,756,674 nodes/s

Universal - 56,124,883 nodes/s
