Trouble with APOP logging: chkpassword 1.00 /bin/loginlog

I just converted to Maildir for my 20 APOP users, and I'm having trouble
getting logging to work.

If I run the standard 'run-apop' script supplied with checkpw 1.00, I get
'aack, child crashed' messages. If I take out /bin/loginlog, APOP
authentication works but no logging happens.

I've dug into this a bit and don't see why this is happening. Any
suggestions or guidance would be much appreciated.
