For statistics, you could use my commonlog patch (at http://www.tivano.com/software/publicfile/index.shtml ) and parse the log output with a script that generates counter images from it. If you need that. A guestbook is probably impossible. Look at http://www.fefe.de/fnord/ if you need CGI.
