I think that I may have miscommunicated. I do not care about layout support per-say. What is important is support for extension. I think that Swixml has a great 1.0 feature set. It would be a shame to pollute it with support for third party layouts and extension at the cost of adding complexity to core users. Kate hit it on the head with her comments about modularity and extensibility. She seemed to be talking about something similar to XDoclet for third party additions. I had to make the code changes to the Swixml core instead of making a library just to add the features I wanted. I was hoping of a engine refactor that does not effect end use.
