All,
Wolf had alluded to a possible swt version of swixml.
And, that is what I am just beginning to work on.
I am starting from the design standpoint and hope to have a first cut
completed by Christmas.
We will see on timelines considering I am doing this in the evenings
and have a very active 2 year old, too.
I am actually starting with an excel spreadsheet that lays out all
current tags (using the tag docs)
and how we can marry up the syntax between swing and swt.
SWT coding syntax isn't too far from swing so, I want to keep as many
tags the same and try to provide a "dual" syntax.
If I lay it out correctly, we have a good shot at providing a
conversion routine as well, converting swing to swt and swt to swing.

On layouts,
I do think that the layout is important.
I do think that adding to a "layout engine" is a good thing.
I also see a couple of sticky points in that portion.
I vote with Wolf and think that a solid "layout" engine would
fit perfectly in a 2.0 feature set.
I will also try to start designing that feature in for the SWT portion.
I will have more to come soon.
I am going to try to start the design in a bit of a vacuum, but will
welcome
help come mid-november/early december.
Anyone interested in helping?
Sincerely,
Brian P Michael
