Is this list even alive anymore? I have roughly 80 emails, and they span back to 2014. Where do the bochs people communicate anymore? The svn seems to be more or less alive. Okay, so a few issues, mainly pertaining to sound stuff, and some things pertaining to the config interface. These have been issues for years. I'm mainly using 2.6.8, but I've also had the same issues with the repo version. #1. How the hell do I get output from bochs when a program tries to beep the pc speaker? I'm running linux, with sdl and sdl2 available (does bochs not handle sdl2 yet?). I know that bochs can detect when the speaker is turned on, because it displays "frequency=xx" each time that changes, and the frequencies look more or less reasonable (for the musical notes being played). I've tried adding sound: and speaker: directives from various documentation I've found, but those cause a panic. This isn't just for game playing stuff--I'm also tinkering a little with basic OS dev stuff, and want to try little things as if I were on a real machine (real floppy disks take forever to write to, and they're very error prone, plus I have to set up the machine with the floppy drive, which doesn't have a good place to leave it when I'm between using it) #2. Config documentation. Under the soundblaster config...For a lot of options, I'm given the option to set the wave/midi mode, or enter ? for help on that. Being told to enter 0-3 at the prompt isn't very helpful. What do those options do? The documentation is seriously out of date. They could do anything! Why doesn't the help say anything about what they do? #3. Why doesn't the config have options for the pc speaker and es1370? Are they simply not that important? #4. If there's an unknown directive in the config, I'm told it couldn't read the config file, then the emulator panics (Why?!). If I tell it to alwayscont, it simply prompts me to enter another file name. Other than the panic behavor, I would expect the rest of the behavior. Why does it panic instead of just asking the user to enter a good filename, or just hit enter to cancel? #5. The documentation is super out of date! #6. bochs.sourceforge.net has a lot of pages that will load the page's top head menu, but nothing below that. Seems to be a problem with the cgi...I noticed it on several pages, one of which is the bochs-dev archives. #7. Where is the preferred bochs dev communication channel anymore? Is there an IRC? Has the real development moved somewhere else? Is bochs actually dead? -- A scientist claims in court that the reason he ran a red light is that, due to his speed, the color was blueshifted till it appeared green. Needless to say, the charges of running the red light were dropped and he lost his license for speeding excessively. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Mobile security can be enabling, not merely restricting. Employees who bring their own devices (BYOD) to work are irked by the imposition of MDM restrictions. Mobile Device Manager Plus allows you to control only the apps on BYO-devices by containerizing them, leaving personal data untouched! https://ad.doubleclick.net/ddm/clk/304595813;131938128;j _______________________________________________ bochs-developers mailing list [email protected] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/bochs-developers
