Yer actually right - I've heard from a reasonably well-known IBMers that the DB2 folks are 'funny' - IBM is very much a collection of little empires, but in the case of DB2, markedly so - the anecdote I heard concerned their long-standing grouching & grumbling over terms for DB2 inclusion in ADCD. > The next escalation will be when someone posts looking for help with > big-name ISV software like Adabas, ACF2, etc. That could be when the > ordure finally encounters the air-moving device. Yer a wee bit out of date - questions have already been raised about such. I well-recall someone asking about Focus under Herc a year or two ago, for instance. > I'm amazed to see SHARE tolerating - even perhaps encouraging - > distribution of this stuff at its meetings. 'This stuff' being Hercules? Why on earth shouldn't they? It's a great freebie. Best thing we can do, is send *every* SHARE attendee home with their own personal Herc mainframe in their pocket. If enough of them play with it, like it, and realise it could make a great single-user z/OS system... well letters from *real* customers are bound to carry more weight than those from a bunch of nerdy open- source types, aren't they? (when it comes to getting IBM to being fair about licensing) :-) Mike ------------------------ Yahoo!
