There is an explicit copyright statement at the bottom of the article, which has even been reproduced in the posting on Hercules-390. What could be simpler than that? Compterworld's explicit permission to email the article does not affect the copyright situation in the slightest. I suggest consulting a lawyer - even a mediocre one will do - about the law concerning store-and-forward systems and copyright. The original reason for these exemptions, BTW, is the impossibility of controlled cached copies. But that's probably going too deep for you. The chief plank of Demon Internet's first defence against the libel suit brought by Dr Godfrey in 1999 was that Usenet news is a store and forward system akin to email. Hizzonor (Mr Justice Morland) disagreed with that view and held that Usenet was a republishing service, exactly as Hercules-390. "Copyright © 2002 Computerworld Inc. All rights reserved.
