This is somewhat dated but the comparison with the Sun units were 
made with 2 RAID5 arrays defined.  Current 160gb and larger would 
allow you to put it in a smaller box.

"1.2tb - 16 Maxtor 80gb EIDE drives - expandable to 4tb
the read speed using 512kb chunks and RAID5 on two arrays - it's 
faster than Sun's (very expensive) T300 units."

Phil - at the time about $3,500 or so
