Regrettably, that also is too expensive.  I have asked the contact
address whether the software is available without the hardware, but as
yet I have no answer.

I thought Peter's contribution was reasonable in the circumstances: it's
a way to get the software, even if not to get the software and a licence
to run it on my PC clone.

I think the Poms have forgotten how to play cricket.

I don't know how to say this delicately, tact has never been my forte,
but I think that while you might have create the list, Roger, and you
manage it, it's the users who own it.

On this occasion I saw more people leaning back in their chairs
nodding and smiling, than leaning forward, arms crossed, heads down and
peering out from beneath frowns, when Peter made his suggestion.
